My version of the Enrique Iglesias song. -Kenny . Some song information: "Hero" is a single released by Enrique Iglesias from his second English album Escape and was written for his good friend Simon Baxendale, by Matt White. Enrique first released the song to radio in November 2001 to a positive critical and commercial reception. After the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, the song was one of the few songs chosen by Radio DJs in New York to be remixed with audio from police, firefighters, civilians at Ground Zero and Politicians commenting on the attacks. He was asked to sing the song live at the benefit concert America: A Tribute to Heroes ten days after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Iglesias broadcast his performance from a warehouse in New York alongside Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and Sheryl Crow. The location of the warehouse was kept secret in case of further attacks. It was Iglesias' first televised performance of the song. He had performed the song earlier at that year's Miss Venezuela but due to the terrorist attacks the show was not aired on television.

Soon after 9/11, Brian Cardona & Tyler Billingsley made this tribute doc as a high school fundraiser. 1/2 of the donations went to their school & 1/2 to a school by "Ground Zero." Copyright laws prohibit the original audio to be used. It was REM's "Everybody Hurts" playing throughout, various snippets of news anchors, & a small segment from Bill Pullman's speech in 20th Century FOX's "Independence Day." We did obtain rights for the fundraiser from Warner/Tamberlane music & 20th Century FOX, & were told by our teacher that the news stuff was okay to use. Video - Brian happened to stay home sick that day & recorded lots of tv news to his old tapes, hence the quality.

Eight New York City Police Officers who died from World Trade Center Illnesses were added to the Wall of Heroes on Wednesday, the first week of May 2008. Wednesday's annual Police Memorial Day Ceremony honored eight police officers who died as a result of their rescue and recovery work after the September 11th terrorist attacks. At least 360 workers who volunteered to perform search and rescue operations at the World Trade Center directly following the September 11, 2001 attacks have since died; 80 of which suffered cancer-related deaths. The White House deliberately pressured the EPA into giving false public assurances that the toxic air at Ground Zero was safe to breathe. The volunteers and rescuers worked at Ground Zero, nearby blocks and at the Fresh Kills landfill on Staten Island. New York state health officials have identified the cause of death for 154 dead volunteers.The 360 estimate is just the "tip of the iceberg." There are over 10000 sick volunteers, 600 of whom are now cancer stricken, allegedly caused by their exposure to toxic elements on the site. We still only really know a very small fraction of what was going on during the day of 9/11. The identity of this "white jet" aircraft has been a mystery.
